A home energy storage system, often called a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), allows homeowners to store surplus electricity for later use. This surplus electricity typically comes from rooftop solar panels or the grid.

Most home batteries store electricity as direct current (DC). When needed, this electricity passes through an inverter, converting it into usable alternating current (AC) for your home. The inverter also converts AC electricity back to DC for storage when the battery needs recharging. Your battery will charge, discharge, or remain idle based on your chosen settings.
